Federation reaction to DC Stephen Oake receiving the Queens Gallantry Medal

Simon Reed, Vice-Chairman, Police Federation of England and Wales:

“We are extremely delighted that DC Stephen Oake has been awarded the Queens Gallantry Medal. This long over due recognition finally acknowledges the incredible bravery and commitment to duty, Stephen displayed on that fateful day in January 2003.

“Stephens’s actions remain an inspiration to us all and epitomise the strength, courage and dedication beholden of those who bear the ‘office of constable’.

“The Federation locally in Greater Manchester and nationally campaigned long and hard to see justice done and recognition awarded for the heroism of duty given. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his friends, family and colleagues.”
