Federation reaction to planned public sector pay cap
09 December 2009
In response to Alistair Darling’s pre-Budget report and specifically the intention to cap pay for two years from 2011, Paul McKeever, Chairman, Police Federation of England and Wales says;
“The final year of the three year deal for police officers commences in September 2010. We are aware that with budget restrictions across the entire public sector negotiation on future salary increases at the Police Negotiating Board will be demanding. However, we trust whatever government is in office, they will recognise the unique status of police officers who have restrictions on their professional and private lives, have expectations on them whether on or off duty and are prohibited from taking any form of industrial action and will accordingly recognise this with future fair pay settlements.”
