Christmas message from Chairman, Paul McKeever
21 December 2009
You all have my deepest respect for the dangerous, difficult and complex work you are doing across the country, work that is often unrecognised and unrewarded. . This year has presented us all with many challenges but together we have continued to deliver a first class service to the public and continued to ensure British policing remains at the forefront of excellence worldwide.
British policing remains the best in the world, not only for its ability to adjust and adapt to the many challenges it is presented with, from terrorism and cross border crime to gang violence in the local neighborhood. But it achieves this because of the tenacity and strength of character of those working within the policing family; their ability to take on the chin the many knocks and criticisms received, the relentless political and structural changes imposed and the evolving shape of crime and criminality. To take under their wing the many ‘grey’ areas not fitting remits and job specs from the out of hours social work to the temporary housing of those needing care. For their compassion listening to what may seem trivial to most, but terrifying to one, and their calm when all else around them is frantic and confused.
You do a great job – you should be very proud of what you do..
Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in 2010!
Paul McKeever
