The Police Bravery Award
The Police Bravery Awards are an annual event which recognise the tremendous and incredibly important jobs police officers do for their communities every day of their lives.
Nominations for the award are made by the Federations Branch Boards across England and Wales and each year there are 8 regional winners, of which one goes on to clinche the top award.
The Award itself was designed by architectural glass artist Martin Donlin. The design is based upon dissected images layered as a collage. Three dictionary quotations of the words AWARD, BRAVERY and COURAGE are juxtaposed with images from the Police Federation’s coat of arms. The central image, a lion’s head, is representative of courage and bravery, mixed with the scales of justice and the crown of our Monarch
Jill Dando AwardThe Jill Dando Award is a special presentation given to a member of the public who has made a major contribution to fighting crime. It was introduced in 1999 to remember Jill, who was a significant supporter of policing and the Police Bravery Awards. The award is a bronze flower, modelled on the rose that bears her name.
