Update on Police Arbitration Tribunal process

09 November 2011

Message from Ian Rennie, General Secretary of PFEW:

Dear Colleagues

I can advise you that the Police Arbitration Tribunal proceedings did not conclude on 8 November. The hearing has been adjourned until Tuesday 22 November 2011, therefore it is difficult to say whether we will get their decision before or after Christmas.

You will appreciate that whilst the arbitration process is still on-going we are unable to make details of the previous negotiations public, including full details of the alternative offer proposed by Staff Side.

Following the failure to agree on 26 July we touched upon the detail in the media statement we issued when we said "We offered proposals which deliver savings that match Winsor’s proposals. These include the suspension of superintendents’ and chief officers’ bonus payments for the coming two years, the suspension of the Special Priority Payment (SPP) budget for three years and changes in the payment of casual overtime."

When the PAT process has concluded and the result is known we will then be able to share specific details of the Staff Side offer and provide further updates.

I will keep you informed of developments.

Ian Rennie
General Secretary
Police Federation of England and Wales
