Federation Comment on CPS Case Collapses

28 February 2008

Alan Gordon, vice-Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, says:

“Although I would not condone any case being dropped because of non-attendance, it should be acknowledged that this figure is actually a very small proportion of all cases instigated by the CPS. What this figure fails to tell us is the individual circumstance of each case and these would need to be investigated before any conclusion could be drawn as to why an officer did not attend.”
