The Police Federation is marking International Women’s Day with a special online event to celebrate the role of women within the organisation.
This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity and all members are being urged to join the ‘Female Leadership within the Federation’ event 0n teams from 10.30am until noon on Wednesday 8 March.
Tiff Lynch will be sharing her journey in becoming the national deputy chair of the Police Federation while deputy secretary Gemma Fox will also be sharing her story and the challenges she faced with being the first female National Board member to have a baby and take maternity leave.
Members will also be invited to share their experiences and the challenges they have faced.
Police Federation National Women’s Group lead Sue Honeywill said: “Currently female reps make up under 25 per cent of Federation reps across the country, so we feel it is equally important to highlight the work that is still required.
“As lead of the women’s group, I want to ensure we are actively supporting our female Federation reps and, therefore, would encourage as many of you as possible to dial into this event.
“I know some female reps may be new, but it would be lovely to see some new faces and get to know each other.”
Sue said members who attended the online event would learn more about the National Women’s Group and the support it can offer to assist career progression within the Federation as it embraces equity.
